 Macao moun amour!

19/11/2008

Macau is just around the corner! During these years, the Asiatic race has been gaining even more importance and success within the karting scene, also concerning the Rok world, becoming the climax race of the end of season, not only for the Asian drivers.

In the whole of Asia, Rok counts a large number of participants and the level reached by the drivers is very high, by now it is realistic thinking that one of the next Champions of the International Final will be an oriental Rokker. Actually, a Philippine driver, Stefano Marcelo, stepped onto the Rok podium in the last final; together with him also some excellent extra-European drivers gained good results, such as the South Africans Stephen Michael (Super Rok) and Licien Mitchell (Junior) and the fast Canadian Scott Rossi. The latter had a fantastic performance and gained a great result.

From 27th to 30th November in Coloane, a part of Macau, the best Rokkers of the whole of Asia will challenge one another at the meeting which will close the 2008 Rok season. This success has been gained thanks to Mr. Johnny Tan, the AKOC organization and the AMC (Automobile Club de Macau), represented by Mr. Patrick Castro.

The two 2008 champions Vantini (Super Rok) and Galati (Rok) won’t participate to the Rok race, while the young International Rok Champion Rafael Aguiar (Svizzera) and the other young talented driver Martin Doubek (Czech Republic) will participate in the event.
The show will be exciting as always and you will be able to see all the news, the pictures and the curiosities of the event live on the web site: www.rokcup.com.

What the twice World Champion Marco Ardigò, official Vortex driver, thinks about the Asiatic circuit:
“The track is almost binding, you have to be able to mix a slow pace with a fast one. It is easy to overtake, there are three points where you can do it, which are the first straight stretch (1) after the big bend of the start, the straight stretch at left after the bend at right sloping down (2). Another point where you can easily overcome is the part near the little bends left-right where you have to be careful and very concentrated.
Last year the asphalt was a little bit compromised, let’s hope this year the road surface will be better because the grip was really precarious. This is a track quite technical so it is necessary to be careful to every bend.”
