ROK Cup Romania: Extreme heat and competitiveness in Round 3

The Romanian ROK Cup headed to Târgu Secuiesc for the third round, where the heatwave was the crucial element in defining the final results.

Micro ROK

Home boy Aron Goncz (CSSK) was the fastest in qualifying, with the entire field within 1.723s. ​​He then won the first race ahead of Alin Ioan Bălan (Formula K RO) and Achim Andrei Cristescu (Real Racing). Then, there were race wins for Matvei Cotorobai (BRT), Bălan and Jason Gorea (Real Racing), each driver achieving at least one podium finish across the weekend. In the end, there was a three-way tie for the overall win and a tiebreaker based on the qualifying result. Stelian Guli's absence led to an overall leadership change.

Mini ROK

Less than a second gathered the entire field of 12 competitors in qualy, with Igor Aron Răcianu (CSSK) claiming pole position. At the first start, he was overtaken by Andreas Drugău (Gulstar Racing), after which Răcianu made up for it and won the second race starting from 7th. Drugău returned to the lead on Sunday morning and the last sprint was taken by Teodor Licu (Formula K RO), who was on the verge of his first win of the season. Adam Diaconu (Gulstar Racing) was the winner of the Under 10 subcategory.

Junior ROK

Matvei Cupnîi had a remarkable outing on the Skat Kart track, being half a second faster in qualifying than his closest rival and managing three heat wins. Only the Sunday morning race, won by Sebastian Panait (BRT), slipped through his fingers. In a weekend in which he did not have a winning rhythm, Marc Moia (Toka Racing) limited the loss of points and maintains the lead in the general classification by just one point compared to Cupnîi. The Junior Lady ROK trophy went to Maria Lăcan (CSSK).

Senior ROK

The hottest battle in Târgu Secuiesc took place in this category, culminating with the incident between Ștefan Constantinof (Formula K RO), Victor Nedelcu (Toka Racing) and Istvan Dezso (JMS Performance) in the last race. Celik Mambet (Formula K RO) proved fastest in qualy, but in the first race Nedelcu and Dezso left him in arrears. Even though Nedelcu crossed the finish line first, a penalty relegated him to second. He then made up for it at the second start, where Toka Racing signed the double through Nedelcu and Ana Clara Atudosiei. Mambet came back on Sunday and, after a second place in the morning behind Nedelcu, won the fourth round.
