ROK Cup Romania: A hotter second episode in Prejmer

The ROK Cup Romania competitors' pack met for the second time in Prejmer in this season debut, the progress in all categories being notable.

Micro ROK

A much more intense roundthan the first one started with severalcontenders for the podium: in qualy we had seven drivers out of the total of 11 within a second, the fastest proving to be Matvei Cotorobai (BRT). However, a penalty deprived him of victory in the first heat, Aron Goncz (CSSK) being declared the winner, after which Stelian Guli (Superkart Racing Team) made up for it at the second start. Sunday started with the excellent defense of Achim Andrei Cristescu (Real Racing) and ended with a race in which all teams gambled on a drying track. Using slicks was the winning option, as shown by Mara Irina Vinț (MIV Motorsport), but Vladimir Fiscuci (Real Racing) impressed, managing to keep numerous other drivers behind on rain tires.

Mini ROK

With seven drivers within 0.743s at the end of qualifying, the Mini ROK category was open to many scenarios. However, pole-sitter Igor Aron Racianu (CSSK) took his first victory, one tenth ahead of Teodor Licu. The Gulstar Racing drivers then signed the double in the second race on Saturday, when Andreas Drugau led home Adam Diaconu. On Sunday, Racianu made up for it and climbed four positions for another heat win. At the last start, Diaconu won, who also lifted the stage winner trophy in the Under 10 classification.

Junior ROK

The fastest in the practice was Marc Moia (Toka Racing), but a non-compliant restrictor deprived him of pole position and complicated his mission in the first race. Thus, on Saturday there were victories for Matvei Cupnîi (Gulstar Racing) and Radu Băsescu-Pricop (Real Racing), after which Moia won heat number three. The most spectacular race was to be the last, on a drying track with hard battles to find grip and to keep the rain tires alive. Băsescu-Pricop blocked Cupnîi's offensive and crossed the finish line first after 14 laps in which all ten competitors had a lot to learn. The Junior Lady ROK trophy went to Maria Lăcan (CSSK).

Senior ROK

An intense qualifying session, with all five competitors within four-tenths of a second, was the perfect opener. However, Victor Nedelcu (Toka Racing) proved to be the class of the field and only missed out on a heat win, which went to Tudor Tița Nicolescu (Real Racing).
