ROK Cup Romania: Bacău stalemate postpones all verdicts

No title has been already awarded at the conclusion of the penultimate round, as the challengers did enough to stay in the fight until October.

Micro ROK 

All the protagonists of this category traveled to Bacău, hoping for the best possible placement. In practice, we had the first five in less than two tenths of a second, after which Mara Irina Vinț (MIV Motorsport) made the difference in qualifying. Matvei Cotorobai (BRT) overtook her in the first heat, but was penalized for a jump start. The BRT driver then made amends by winning the second race.

Stelian Guli (Superkart Racing Team) withstood an inspired recovery by Mara Vinț on Sunday morning. She managed to climb from 9th to 2nd and melt a three-second deficit, arriving just 69 thousandths of a second behind the winner. The last lap of the last race could have strong implications in the title fight, since it led to the retirement of Guli and a significant delay for Alin Ioan Bălan (Formula K RO), who were first and second in the annual hierarchy. The race was won by Vladimir Fiscuci (Real Racing), who cut the deficit from 40 points down to just 13. In the top 3 in each of the 4 races, extremely consistent, Aron Goncz (CSSK) won this round.

Mini ROK

Qualifying specialist Igor Aron Racianu (CSSK) extended his streak of consecutive pole positions. He is undefeated for four rounds and has started from first place on all four circuits in the calendar. He turned pole into victory, then in race two his direct opponent Andreas Drugău (Gulstar Racing) prevailed. Sunday brought successes for Teodor Licu (Formula K RO) and Adam Predescu (BRT), the latter claiming his first victory in 2026.

Junior ROK

The general impression this year was that Matvei Cupnîi (Gulstar Racing) enjoyed a consistent pace advantage, but on this track the overall leader did not seem as comfortable.

Marc Moia (Toka Racing) was the fastest in the official practice, after which he set the pole position time. He won by two seconds in the first race, in which Cupnîi managed to climb to second place after overtaking Vladimir Cozma (Real Racing). Moia's offensive was stopped in the second race, when he was forced to retire after a contact. Cupnîi's success doubled his lead in the overall standings.

Sunday started with a close battle between the two, on the inverted grid with both achieving many overtakes. At the end of the race, Cupnîi won by just a tenth of a second, but Cozma's fastest lap announced his involvement in the final battle, which he would eventually win. Thus, the Real Racing driver achieved his first victory of the season, followed by Moia consoling himself with the fact that he finished ahead of Cupnîi this time.

The Junior Lady ROK trophy went again to Maria Lăcan (CSSK), ahead of Alessia Iacomi (Vidi Top Sport) and Isabela Lascu (Formula K RO).

Senior ROK

Bacău hosted a new episode of the battle between Celik Mambet (Formula K RO) and Victor Nedelcu (Toka Racing), the question at the beginning of the weekend being whether the latter can gain another nine points over his direct rival to already close the title fight. Nedelcu started hesitantly: last in the official practice and only third in qualy. Naturally, Mambet was at the top of the time sheet in both sessions.

Everything seemed to have been decided as early as the first race of the weekend, when Mambet was forced to retire when leading by over three seconds. Victory was handed on a plate to Nedelcu, but from 25-0 the situation changed radically. Mambet won the next three races, and Nedelcu collected two costly penalties on Sunday. Thus, the calculations indicate that we will have to wait almost two more months until the champion is crowned in this category as well.
