ROK CUP Romania: Perfect scores for Salistean and Jercan

12-04-2021

The 2021 karting season started last weekend in Romania, with high intensity duels under a clear blue sky in Bucharest.

Patrick Salistean (Autosally) scored a perfect 75 out of 75 points, winning all three Micro ROK races ahead of Razvan Ciobanu (Drinago Racing) and Gergo Buzas (CSSK). Antonia Vidican (Vidi Top Sport) was the sole female contestant in the field of 11 that also marked the progression of several Promo KM competitors to the next step in their careers.

The 14 entrants in the Mini ROK category were equally determined to start their season as well as possible. Noone did better than Tudor Jercan (Formula K), who had to fend off the challenge of teammate David Nicolae and Alexandru Rad (CSSK) in order to obtain the maximum amount of 75 points in the Bucharest opener. The inaugural Lady ROK trophy went towards Sonia Crivoiruc (Real Racing), ahead of Ilinca Andreea Stefan (Drinago Racing) and Ruxandra Cozma (Real Racing).

Luca Paul Viisoreanu (Real Racing) started his Junior ROK career with a win on Saturday, but Kevin Vlasceanu (Toka Racing) responded by claiming both Sunday finals and now leads the standings ahead of Viisoreanu and Zoe Florescu-Potolea (Real Racing). The Senior ROK category was a success from the word go, as Andrew Denis Boriceanu (Drinago Racing) won two hard fought races and Costin Tudor Ion (Real Racing) had the resilience to snatch the final one and stay close. There was a separate Senior ROK Gold subcategory for racers aged 35+. Bogdan Irimia (Drinago Racing) went on to win ahead of Bogdan Ionescu (Legend Racing Team) and Dumitru Lucian Rusitoru (Legend Racing Team).

Further spectacle was ensured in the Promo, Rookie C60 and KZ classes for the first time this year and the next reunion will take place at the Skat Kart circuit in Targu Secuiesc in five weeks time.
