GIUSEPPE GAGLIANO': ROK TALENT AWARD 2011

28-10-2011

Giuseppe Gaglianò reached the Rok Talent Award’s Final thanks to the very good performance shown at the International Final. He always attended the Rok, since its debut in the Mini Rok category in 2009. So, the Rok Talent Award has been assigned to a very orginal Rokker.

Curriculum: He makes his debut in 2009 in the Mini Rok category and is soon true love between Giuseppe and the Vortex’ category.                                                                                                                                                                                        In 2010 he goes on with the Mini Rok class and obtains very good results, showing and demonstrating to be one of the fastest drivers, culminating in the Rok Cup success. He then attends the Rok Cup Italy and the Rok Cup International Final.                                                                                                                                                                                                          In 2011 he shifts to the Junior Rok class and understands to have a good feeling with the new and more sophisticated engine. Gaglianò runs in the Rok North-West area and succeeds with the third position at the end of the Championship. On the occasion of the Rok Cup Italy he just misses the podium but arrives at the very Final in Lonato in very good form.  During the International Final the Genoese driver runs a very good weekend, gains the fourth position and can face the Rok Talent Award the day after, with great enthusiasm.

What were your feelings during the week between the Rok Talent Award test-day (Oct 17th) and the day you received the good news?
“First of all… I wish to thank Vortex for the prize and for the very good idea of the Rok Talent project”.

Good. Now let’s go to feelings..
“I felt under stress during the whole week, I watched at the Rok website many and many times to see if any news was available,  but not at all….”

How did you know you’ve been acknowledged as the most talented amongst all Junior Rok drivers?
“It was a very big surprise. My father knew it already but did not tell me. He switched on my computer, connected to the Rok homepage and someway he asked me to go and see the computer. When I saw my picture and the news I was the winner together with Kiyohara I got deeply moved.”

What do you mean?
“I mean I cried for joy.  My mother, too, wept, she was besides me. It has been an unforgettable emotion, very strong. I could not have my mind concentrated on other matters during the week on and winning this huge prize has been the most wonderful thing I could ever expect.”

What was your first thought once the dream has come true?
“I thought on how to train to be better prepared for these so important competitions, I tried to think about how that moment will be, the environment… I have my mind full of thoughts. My father is even more happy than me, but took my feet on the ground and told me we will test some KF3. Then we will wait for Vortex’ instructions, obviously, but one thing is for certain, I will be at the track with the Junior Rok again.”

Fantastic! You’ve been running  your growing karting career always in the Rok. You started in the Mini and went to the Junior class and now that you’re the KF3 Rok Talent Award’s driver do you still think of not leaving it?
“In my opinion it is firm my choice is Rok. Here I enjoy, know anybody and I feel like at home, for this reason I will go at the track with the Rok Cup again. Rok is a good training and I can run both categories then!.”

How do you imagine the moment you’ll wear the official driver’s colours to attend the European Championship and the World Cup?
I suppose it will be as much exciting as the Rok Talent’s. I’ve been in the official tent together with mechanics and many other things, these are unforgettable moments and for sure I want to live this experience deeply, running important competitions. I wish to cut a fine figure with the Vortex team.”

You did not seem to be disoriented. Weren’t you afraid of making some mistakes due to your excitement?
“No I wasn’t. I was glad to be there and I was quite calm. Anybody, mechanics, technicians, engineers have been very nice with me and I soon felt at ease. I was concentrated on doing well what I was asked to do and I really liked driving the KF3. It was the first time for me and I felt comfortable.”

Is it true your father left you early in the morning?
“Yes. He never is anxious in my regards, furthermore he wanted me to face this experience by myself, as any official driver would do.”

Let’s go back and talk about the Rok Cup International Final. Did you think about the Rok Talent final while running?
“Not really, since I thought quite impossible to enter the very final, there were many drivers, good drivers, coming from all over the world. So I concentrated on doing well and actually I just missed the podium, but then I entered the Rok Talent Final and here I am!”

Sharp question.  If you could have chosen, would you prefer to win the very Final or the Rok Talent?
“The Rok Talent, undoubtedly.”
